Using chemicals

Chemicals are necessary to keep your tank and fish healthy. API is a good brand for chemicals, they have stress coat, stress zyme, and other necessary chemicals. Stress coat should be used when filling your tank with tap/new water. It removes and cleans chemicals and other bad nutrients from the water. Stress zyme keeps your fish healthy and stress free (it won’t remove stress from fish although it will decrease it, stress zyme should be used once every week or other week). API melafix helps treat infections and bacterial infections. API has other chemicals such as ph down or up, these are not necessary and should not need to be used. If they are needed make sure the frequency of chemicals and tank cleans is not to high or low. You will need chemical testers such as an API test kit or some test strips. API test kit is preferred as it is more accurate (It does cost more, but it lasts longer and has refills).
